Loan Underwriting Questions

For law firms, we will provide 50 questions, (with answers!) the underwriter can use to probe the sophistication of the borrower

These also help the underwriter to zero in on specific law firm industry challenges and how the borrower plans to address, if at all, the issue.

Here is a flavor of the type of questions the underwriter can utilize:

What types of marketing and advertising does the firm do?
(Advertising is more common in the legal services industry than in past decades.)

How has Sarbanes-Oxley affected the firm?
(Sarbanes-Oxley pro hits multidisciplinary practice int he US, restricting law firms from joining with other professional firms--like accounting, financial planning or healthcare consulting companies.)

How many paralegals and legal assistants does the firm employ?
(Paralegal services are growing rapidly; competition for them is high in many markets.)

How does the firm ensure that its business isn't dependent on too few clients?
(Most law firms are small, local, and may earn a large percentage of revenue from a few customers; loss of a major client can be devastating.)

5 Year Financial Comps

In your package will be a five year comparable financial statement analysis. We will just briefly discuss the numbers and trends, but realize these are important when using them to analyze your borrower's financials.

Sound Bytes

"The best part of the presentation," is the consistent feedback we receive on our industry specific webinars about our sound byte section.

We have taken a collection of industry experts commentary to give you short, concise sentences to help you quickly focus on what is important from the white noise of information overload.

Check these out.

"What is the situation where the attorney dies suddenly and leaves a spouse to 'mop-up'?
Average Law Firm Revenue -- $656,527
Average Wages per Employee -- $78,630
Average Wage cost as a percentage of revenue -- 40%
Average rent cost as a percentage of revenue -- 20%
Advantages -- Loyal customers, very large industry.
Disadvantages -- "It is sometimes difficult to expand because it is hard to find people that can meet the demands of most attorneys."

Why a Webinar?

It's very cost effective. No airfare, no hotels. Just cram as many people as you wish into your conference room and turn on the computer. You have two options to listen to the program--phone, or through your computer speakers. You are only charged for the connection. When you purchase unlimited access, there is no additional charge for multiple attendees.

Our webinars are based on a radio-talk show program format. Your host, Bob Coleman, will moderate the program. He will ask questions of top-notch national experts. Their answers will be the substance of the program. A great benefit of the program is that you have the ability to ask questions directly of the panelists. Or, you may simply email Coleman during the program and he will direct your question to the panel.

How it Works

We use Go-to-Meeting as our platform. You will receive a link that will direct you to an Internet site to view the presentation. Nothing will be downloaded to your computer.

If you would like to test this process to make sure you will be able to access the link through your system's firewall, just send an email to joseph@colemanpublishing.com, and he will walk you through it.

You may choose to listen to the program separately from the on-line visual presentation. Before the event, we will email you the presentation that you may distribute to your attendees.

Get everyone in your bank involved for only $389. All we need is an email address for each station.
